Vintage 1930s/40s Italian Micro Mosaic Mandolin/ Guitar Brooch, Floral Multi Coloured Glass Mosaic

Italian Micro Mosaic is made up from tiny pieces of glass called treserae, arranged to form an image. An art form that represents a real labour of love by skilled artisans, some pieces can date back as far as the 17th century.
This fabulous antique brooch dating from the 1930s/ 40s onwards, was probably bought as a souvenir and is a fine example of Micro Mosaic. The guitar or mandolin shaped brooch is beautifully decorated with a glass mosaic in an intricate floral milli fiori design with onto a brass backing.
The brooch has a secure catch and the colours remain bright and vibrant.
Remains in excellent vintage condition for its age, the brass backing is a little dicolored with age but this would never be noticed when the brooch is worn. Comes in a gift box, a delightful sustainable gift .
