Vintage 1940s Indian Zardosi Gold Work Embroidery Black Velvet Floral Eveing Bag, gifts for her, formal event

This gorgeous vintage bag dates back to the 1940s and was probably brought back to Britain as a gift by a soldier after the Second World War.
Hand made in India from black velvet it features an elaborate panel of traditional Zardosi gold wire work embroidery on the front flap in a floral design and has an embroidered hand or glove strap on the back. The bag has a gold tone short handle which can be tipucked inside if the bag is to be used as a clutch and the bag fastens with a press stud under the front flap. The inside is lined in black satin and there is an internal pocket.
The bag measures 8” x 5” x 1.5” at the base and remains in good vintage condition. On close inspection the embroidery is a bit duller than it would have been when the bag was made and part of the lining has come away slightly at the base but neither of these are major issues and do not detract from the style and functionality of this fabulous piece.
